November 7-10, 2013: Kansas City, Missouri. Sponsored by the U.S. Navy JAG Corps

Dear NAPALSA Friends:

On behalf of the NAPALSA Executive Board, I would like to encourage you to attend this year's NAPABA/NAPALSA's annual conference. Building off on NAPABA's theme - "MOmentum" - and to celebrate the progress of the Asian American Pacific Islander ("AAPI") legal community, "Surging Ahead" will be this year's conference theme. This year, Downtown Kansas City will host the conference and the dates are November 7th-10th.

We have lined up a wonderful and diverse group of panelists, speakers and interviewers interested in providing advice and guidance. Look forward to:
- Seven panels over the course of two days that address AAPI's progress and future in the many different legal sectors. AAPI leaders from around the nation will provide critical insight and make themselves available to answer any questions students may have
- An exciting 8-minute mentoring session
- Mock interviews with AAPI leaders to learn tips about interviewing and resume building and career advancement
- Keynote speakers: Rear Admiral J.W. Crawford III, the deputy judge advocate general of the Navy; Major General Thomas Ayres, the deputy judge advocate general of the Army; Judge Kirk Nakamura, Superior Court of California - Orange County; and Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa, U.S. House of Representatives - Hawaii.
- Two special social events just for NAPALSA:
1) NAPALSA Social: come meet the Executive Board, attorneys, Thomas Tang competitors, and fellow colleagues at the Thursday Night Social which will be at Howl at the Moon - an awesome rock 'n' roll dueling piano bar
2) NAPALSA Cocktail Reception: the formal Friday Night Cocktail Reception will be at Providence New American Kitchen. In addition to keynote speeches, we will also present awards, scholarships, and announce the 2013 Executive Board.

To register for the conference, please go to http://www.napaba.org/napaba/showpage.asp?code=convention. To receive the discounted law student conference registration fee, one must first be a NAPABA member ($25 registration fee).

Please register your membership at http://www.napaba.org/napaba/membercontactedit.asp. Please note tt will take couple days for NAPABA to process your membership application.
For lodging, please refer to this link: http://2013convention.napaba.org/travel/#hotel.

Anyone who is interested in running for a position on the 2014 Executive Board, please read the election materials on our website. You are welcome to run for a position during elections, which will be held at the conference on Friday. Please note, in order to vote, however, your chapter must be registered. If your chapter has not registered yet, please bring your checkbooks so the current Treasurer can get you all settled. Every vote counts!

Finally, this is a formal conference so the dress code is business/business casual during the day. The NAPALSA Cocktail Reception on Friday and the NAPABA Installation gala are formal dinners. The dress code is cocktail / formal attire for NAPALSA and black tie optional for the gala.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact William Shim, Conference Chair at conference.napalsa@gmail.com.
