2012 ELECTION INFORMATION
To be eligible for candidacy, you must be:
• An active member of NAPALSA (either through a dues-paying Affiliate or individual membership); and
• Able to make a commitment to your position and be a current law student at the time of election and throughout the full 14-month term; beginning on the date of Installation (November 17) through January 31, 2014.
Candidate qualifications considered are:
• Status as current law student in good standing;
• Ability to demonstrate leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a strong ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines; and
• Commitment to the Asian Pacific American legal community.
Application Process:
The NAPALSA Election Committee will oversee the elections process. In order to facilitate this process, all candidates must submit the following information and materials to elections.napalsa[at]gmail.com. These materials will then be disseminated to the voting members of NAPALSA:
1. Cover Sheet that includes: Name, Position Desired, Law School, Anticipated Graduation Date, Mailing Address, Telephone Contact Number, and Email Address.
2. Contact name and email address for your local APALSA Affiliate OR verification of your individual membership status with NAPALSA.
3. Candidate Personal Statement (12-pt font, double-spaced, 3-page max. -- this does not mean you need to write 3 pages!)
4. Resume or Curriculum Vitae
5. Letter of Commitment (signed and dated)
6. Photo (optional)
Campaigning:
In the past, some candidates have distributed campaign materials before and during the Annual Conference. To ensure fairness to all candidates, there will be a $25 cap on the amount a candidate may spend on campaign materials. ALL MATERIALS must first be approved by the Election Committee before distribution to the Voting Members.
Please email elections.napalsa@gmail.com to obtain approval. Campaigning is not necessarily recommended or required for successful candidacy; it is simply an option.
